The room was spacious, clean and bright and we loved it. We enjoyed a lovely stay in one of the deluxe casita rooms. We didn't have the best experience and were left pretty disappointed in the hotel. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the Fairmont Mayakoba. When you provide your room number, staff should be able to confirm that breakfast is included in your stay and then there's no need to sign for anything. What's strange is that despite having breakfast included in our stay we had to sign for breakfast each time. Breakfast was great and the service was lovely. Queue another wait to have someone arrive and fix the lock issue and give us access to the room.įinally, our room included breakfast during our stay. The battery on the door lock had run out. By this time, I had spent more time talking to reception than my wife.Īfter two days in the room, my wife and I came back in the evening to find our keys weren't working. The battery on the safe was dead and I had to make another call to reception. After the helpful cleaning lady had left, I went to put our passports/valuables into the safe. Another 45 minute wait until someone arrived to sort the problem and another delay on our first day. Called reception to have the bed sheets changed. Once we accessed our room, we moved one of the bed pillows and saw a dead cockroach on our bed. Pretty disappointing after arriving tired on your first day. We didn't receive our keys until 4.30pm, meaning we missed the chance to change into swimwear, visit the pool and sunbathe. My wife and I went to one of the restaurants to have lunch and hang until the room was available at 3pm and we were assured that the keys would be delivered to us.
